About Us
Animation director & animator
I grew up on one of the remote islands of Orkney where my parents had a small-holdings farm. After years of battling with the wind and semi-wild animals, I decided to make the move to Edinburgh and study animation at the Edinburgh College of Art.
My student film, 'Takuskanskan' travelled the world in many festivals, bagging the Craft Award at the British Animation Awards in 2004, first prize at Animated Exeter and the Notice Prize at the Puchon International Student Animation Festival 2002, to name a few.
After my degree, I decided to work freelance which I now still do, working on all sorts of projects as animator and director. I was the designer and animator for the Scottish Power advertising campaign working with Axis Animation. I frequently work with SMG commercials to create TV adverts for Scotland, including Arnold Clark, Smartycars and STV. In the past year I have also created a title sequence and bumpers for BBC2 Scotland and been commissioned to make a short film to promote Ardbeg whisky.(http://www.ardbeg.com/chapter1)
In august 2006, I completed a short animated film called 'Crow Moon' which premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. It has been screened at festivals internationally including the British Animation Awards, the Melbourne International Film Festival and the Ottawa International Animation festival.
